I love this company. They specialize in clothing sizes L-9XL, are very well priced, and they carry the largest selection of ‘slinky’ clothing I’ve ever seen anywhere. The only downside is that they make your clothing to order, so you have to wait 2-3 weeks – but it’s totally worth it.
In case you aren’t familiar with slinky knit, it’s awesome. It drapes really well and has a subtle shimmer to it, which makes it perfect for an elegant night out on the town. It is densely woven and not at all see-through but it breathes really well, which means I can wear my ¾ sleeve shirts in the hottest Vegas summers and actually be cooler than if I were wearing a tank top – though I freeze my tail off in the winters (breathability works both ways, you know). But the hands-down BEST thing about slinky knit is that it stretches – A LOT. Sanctuarie measures their slinkies UNSTRETCHED! ::cheers:: This stretchiness makes for some of the most comfortable, flattering, versatile clothes ever.
Having a slinky-knit-based wardrobe is a great idea if you are planning on losing/gaining a lot of weight. I have no idea why more maternity clothes aren’t made of slinky knits. I bought most of my current clothing when I was 60lbs heavier. It fit great then, it fits great now, and it will still fit when I’m 100lbs lighter – that’s how flexible each piece is. The same pants will fit me through every stage of my pregnancies (if I ever manage to conceive ::crosses fingers::). The same dresses, the same tops – I swear, if I didn’t stain my shirts by dropping food on them eventually, I’d probably never have to buy clothes again.
I know, Sanctuarie’s website design is rather dated, but it gets the job done. I myself was a little leery – would I even GET the clothes that I ordered, or was I being scammed by a site last updated in the early 90s? But I took a leap of faith, and boy did it pay off.
